I've finally started...

Well I've finally started my Book of Advent, which is an encyclopedia of my Advent Robotics series. So far I'm estimating the book to have around 500 pages, 100 pages per game? I haven't really decided on the final number but this seems to be a good starting point.

Listed below are the games so far:

ADVENT ROBOTICA
Advent Robotics: Mayhem Machines
Advent Robotics: The Eniac Progression
Advent Robotics: The Univac Succession
Advent Robotics: Fusion Matrix
Advent Robotics: Apocalypse
Advent Robotics: Legacy

There will be an expanded series of comics, cartoons and games but I'll wait to cover that later.

Sonic Unleashed

Just got this in from PSX blog there is a new Sonic Unleashed game coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Judging from the screen shots this looks to be a better game then what Sega has be releasing over the past few years, basically everything has been crap since Sonic and Knuckles on the Genesis roughly 14yrs ago.

It seems that they may have even included Super Sonic judging by this photo.

As well as a fight with Dr. Robotnik

Along with adding Super Sonic into the game as it should have never left, Sega has also giving Sonic some new moves including the "Sonic Boost", "Quick Step" and "Speed Drift".

I was a huge fan of Sonic and this is great news to me I just hope Sega doesn't drop the ball on this as they did with the last few Sonic games.

Playstation 3!

I brought the PS3 about 2 weeks ago and it is AWESOME!!! So far this machine is getting better better as the days and weeks go by I am absolutely happy with the purchase, my only complaint about the system is that I wish it had custom play list in the game. Much like what I heard the 360 has, hopefully that features will be in the next system update.

Even on the SD (Standard Definition) TV the graphics are still amazing, so I'm guessing when I get the HD TV my eyes will bleed from the opticular overload.

I also picked up Assassin's Creed and Burnout Paradise. Both games show off the graphics of the PS3 rather well however, I'm looking forward to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to hit to really get down and dirty with the system.

I just wanted to mention I'm in no way a fan boy of the PS3 in fact I was very close to purchasing a 360 but that failure rate of 16% had me too spooked and thats why I decide on the less failure prone PS3. Who knows in time I may even buy the 360 espically if "Too Human" is as awesome as I think it'll be.

MGS 4

The first time in my gaming history I've put a reservation on a game for a system I as of yet do not own. I'm actually quite excited about the release of MGS4 for the PS3 and also being a owner of one of the most advanced pieces of technology to date. I can't wait till June 12th.

Futura Universe

I was reading on Marvel's web site something about Iron Man seeing how its coming out next month and something caught my attention. It was the phrase "Marvel Universe" and that got me thinking about my own creations and how sometime in the future I may want to do some cross overs. So I decided to encapsulate all of my characters into worlds and those worlds would combine and form my universe which I think I'll call the "Futura Universe". Here is the break down:

Futura Universe:

Futura Prime
- Speradk
- A.M.I.
- Turbo Man

Advent Robotica
- Mayhem Machine
- The Eniac Progression
- The Univac Succession
- Fusion Matrix
- Apocalpyse
- Legacy

Crimson and the Wolf

Emperor of Oz

Universe Variance
- Alpha
- Beta
- Gamma

Monster Hunters
- Elliot
- August

Each of the listed worlds will have their own storylines and characters as any good writer/ artist could do and at times there will be crossovers as the previous paragraph had mentioned.

I'll go into further description of the worlds as they become more fleshed out.

The titles listed above are owned by Diante Smith 2008 all rights reserved.

God of War: Chains of Olympus Review

In March I wrote how I just got God of War: Chains of Olympus. I've since then completed the game and I have a review of the game hoping not to ruin it with spoilers I hope you enjoy it.

Review
God Of War: Chains Of Olympus (psp)

Over all rating:
4.5/5
Graphics: 4/5
Audio: 5/5
Control: 3.5/5
Game play: 4.5/5
Fun Factor: 5/5
Replay ability: 4/5

First off I’m a huge fan of the God Of War series, I must say that Ready At Dawn has done a great job at capturing the feel of the series, first established on the Playstation 2 console perfectly in on the PSP.

The Graphics are excellent they look as if they were pulled directly from the ps2 version, from the way that Kratos moves to the way the light shimmers off of the giant statues in Helios’ temple. I am very impressed at the way Ready at Dawn has gone about doing this title for the psp, makes me glade to have picked up the psp.

The Audio is equally just as good as the graphics and in some respects even better. I feel to get the full sense of the sound the player should really wear earphones as to not be disturbed by their surroundings, its really that good, especially when fighting a boss or enemies after learning a new ability.

The Controls are the only problem (so far) that I have with this title maybe it has to do with the way the psp was designed? But, I find it a bit cumbersome when trying to do multitude of attacks and having to hit the shoulder buttons while at the same time keep my thumbs on the thumb stick. My hands tend to get really sweaty and it becomes hard to keep a grip on the device while trying to beat the crap out of enemies and shadow beast (you’ll see when fighting the minions of Morpheus). I think it would be a lot easier if there were grips on the back of the psp for those instances.

However, with all that said Kratos still handles just as good as he does on the console and pulling off his god-like attacks on the psp against the hordes of enemies seems even more satisfying then they would have on the ps2. At times I find myself missing the combinations because I’m trying to look at the screen.

The Fun Factor is in full effect here especially during the boss battles when landing some pretty vicious attacks, I found myself screaming HOLY CRAP! And other exclamations after ripping off an enemy’s head or driving my blades down a shadow beast chest cavity! I’m still quite amazed at Ready at Dawn’s skills with this game and after hearing Cory Barlog had left Sony I hope Sony decides to give Ready at Dawn first dibs at doing God of War 3 for the PS3.

The Replay ability, I think will be worth the time and effort especially on a harder difficulty setting and with all the weapons the player gathered in their first go through.

PS3 MGS Bundle news

We finally got a photo of what the PS3 MGS 4 bundle will look like when it gets released in June.

Apparently, Sony is not taking any preorders of this SKU. So it may look like I'm gonna have to camp out to pick this one or the "super limited" edition gun metal grey PS3 up!

The greatest thing I've heard so far this year

Apparently, someone has turned an actual Hummer H3 into a remote control vehicle. That someone is Engineer Dr James Brighton from Cranfield University, who spent a month adapting the iconic vehicle into something you can control from your hands. Get the full story here

National Pi day

Ok I'm 2 days late for national Pi day march 14 (3/14), but i think its still qualifies for Pi day seeing how its only two days past, I just made it.

What is PI- the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle. Also it is know as the following decimal:

God of War: Chains of Olympus

I brought GoW: CoO the other day and I just ended it on Hero mode (normal). The game is just about perfect. The only a problem I have is the controls and i guess thats not Ready at Dawn's fault, maybe Sonys' but its a great game. If anyone out there has a PSP and likes God of War you must play this game its worth the price and eventually the craps! I'll have a full review of it soon.

Oh Crap!

Luis u're a genius!

That kind of day

I guess even Abe Lincoln had those kind of days!

A Grimm Day

I finally bought a new book today its The Complete Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales. I can't wait to start reading it, I bought this book because I wanted to do a story/ graphic novel featuring Red Riding Hood. But I didn't want to use the cute Disney version they we all know of. So I decided that I would have to read the book and branch off from there. I think this will be a very interesting experiment.

Steadfast Collectables

I'm was thinking about things, one thing I thought about as I become more of a functional member of society is what would I do if I had my own company? I answer would be maybe something in art, or movies differently something creative. So I figured what about collectibles those are creative awesome to display and quite a lucrative market. So Listed below are my 3 initial IPs (Intellectual Properties)

1) Advent Robotics Series (coming soon)
2) Monster Slayers (in development)
3) Universe Variance: Alpha (in early development)

I have quite a bit of work to finish especially on all the legal stuff, once I do I'll begin posting pics and the story on my site.

Vs. Series One

I was at work thinking about some art projects I wanted to do in the future, on my lunch break i was roaming around on the net and an idea came to me. How come I don't see statues or sculptures of famous fiction characters fighting each other? Now, i don't mean fighting as in violence against one another but you know cartoony?? So I decided this would be my next grand project.

Vs. Series 1
Darth Vader vs. Megatron
Predaking vs. Voltron
Optimus Prime vs. Venom

These were just a thought but I thought they were kinda of interesting.

La Cie pt 2

I've had my NAS drive for about one week and I'm slowing getting used to it. I've only used about 12 gigs of space on it so far I can't wait till i get more time to fully experiment with this thing!

So far everything has been going great with it, though i did have a slight scare with it, I thought I lost the paper that I had written the passwords on. Fortunately, i found it and was able to connect to it.

La Cie

I just got my new Lacie 1 Tera byte NAS drive. It took a little bit to get everything working but its 9:30 now and my mac and pc are sharing away all from the same source! This is the coolest thing ever!

I originally bought this thing was so that i could walk around the house with my laptop without having to feel ground to my desk to listen to my music, and also when i get my Ipod I'll have a lot more music to play with without cramming my laptop.

Macworld 2008

The MWX (Macworld Expo) was this week and boy it was awesome, at least for the mac loyalist! Fist Steve Jobs talks about the financial stuff that he always starts off with, how apple is gaining the the market place and how awesome the products are. Then he talks about the smaller products itunes, the latest operating system in this cause its Leopard and how Microsoft is stealing their ideas. Then he starts off with the cool applications. This time he drops the bomb and announces a new laptop, the Macbook Air.

Its a pretty cool laptop whats so awesome about it is that fact that at its thickest its still only half an inch!!

Steve also announced a hardware component that attaches to the Time machine software that provides effortless backups! Its basically a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device and it is called Time Capsule. I kind of like the fact that its keeping with the who time thing.

There where a few other neat things that where announced but those where the things I found interesting. The Macbook Air seems to be a very interesting thing to watch in the coming months, when I get to the apple store I will really be looking at that maybe for a future purchase.

Saying Sorry

Taking Back Sunday

As was looking around at all the videos that I used to listen to in my collage days and Taking back Sunday came to mind along with Thursday, Garbage and a few others. Nostalgia finally kicked in.

Cute without the E

Great Romances of the 20th Century

Thursday

I've decided to add a new band and cd to the list. Thursday there a hardcore/emo type band I don't really know how to label them but I like them! Full Collapse is a great CD no matter how old i get I'll still rock out and scream along with them, especially with Cross out the Eyes.

My List

The lists that you see to the left are in proper order I didn't want to add numbers to them just in case i wanted to change something around. I just thought I make mention of it.

Just lookin for Shirley

Its Sunday night and I'm a little board and something during the day reminded me of Garbage so i thought i go on youtube and look for something with Shirley Manson in it, not so much a garbage video but maybe an interview and wow how i found a few gems.

Shirley on Craig Kilborne, it wasn't to bad Shirley was awesome and Craig didn't gush to much over her, though I don't blame him for doing so.

BONUS:: CES 2008

CES (Consumer Electronic Show) was this week and to my surprise G4 covered it very well. Through the 2hrs they went back and forth with people on the floor to cover some of the more obscure electronics while asking viewers their opinions on some of the hotter gadgets. I thought they did really well with this and I hope that they use this as a template for covering Macworld next week or Comic con this summer!

The highlight of the programing was when i saw on G4 Kristen Holt tried on the new rumble vest (its basically a vest with the rumble stuff inside, so if u get shot or punched you feel it). They tested it out on her and she started to convulse she jolt some much she feel over and pretended to be dead, I thought that was the funniest thing (because you can't fake that).

Great comedic timing well done Kristen!

(i breifly tried to look for the clip on youtube and even G4's site and can't find it once i do i'll post!)

Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur 4

We just got word that Darth Vader and Yoda just might show up in the next installment of the Soul Edge series, Soul caliber 4. There are few pictures goin around with some very nice imagery of Darth Vader and Yoda. I hope this is true but for the time being here are a few pics i was able to get off of the IGN's PS3 site and the IGN 360 site.

Also it seems that the two versions (PS3 & XBOX360), will have two different characters (which i think sucks). The PS3 will have Lord Vader while the 360 will have Yoda. Come on Namco! If this goes well will we see another weapon based fighting game featuring only the starwars characters? With graphics like these that might not be a bad thing.

American Gladiators Debut and Review

Ok, American Gladiators finally came on last night and i watched it even past my bed time (i have a job sorry!) and i must say it was like watching it back when i was but a boy. They got me screaming and clinching my chair like I'm on the toilet. I must say like the old show i found the new just as annoying in some respects. Lets take for instance the women's competition just as in the original i found that the competitors weren't as strong or determent to win as the men was. Although, i did find that all of the female gladiators where too hot to handle though the Gladiator named Crush was the best looking of them all.

Crush

Overall, I enjoyed the show and I look forward to watching it when it comes on tonight at 8pm, this will hold me over till Hereos comes back on or whenever the writers strike is over! Nice job NBC. I give the American Gladiators B+

Here is an added picture bonus of Siren

Artist of the Day 2

Todays Artist of the day is The Smashing Pumpkins.
They are by far my favorite band!

The Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band that formed in Chicago in 1988. While the group has gone through several lineup changes, The Smashing Pumpkins consisted of Billy Corgan (vocals/guitar), James Iha (guitar/vocals), D'arcy Wretzky (bass/vocals), and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums/percussion) for most of the band's recording career.

The Smashing Pumpkins broke into the musical mainstream with their second album, 1993's Siamese Dream. The group built their audience with extensive touring and their follow-up, 1995's double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. With approximately 18.3 million albums sold in the United States alone as of 2006, the Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s. However, internal fighting, drug use, and diminishing sales hampered the band and led to a 2000 break-up. In April 2006, the band officially announced that they were reuniting and recording a new album. Returning members Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin were joined by new additions Jeff Schroeder (guitar/vocals), Ginger Reyes (bass/vocals), and Lisa Harriton (keyboard/vocals) in 2007 to tour in support of their new release, Zeitgeist.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness: 1995–1997 (greatest CD ever, Top 10 on Diante's CD list)

Corgan worked nonstop over the next year and wrote, according to statements in interviews, about fifty-six songs for the next album. The result was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a double album featuring twenty-eight songs and lasting over two hours (the vinyl version of the album contained three records, two extra songs, and an alternate tracklisting). The songs were intended to hang together conceptually as a symbol of the cycle of life and death. Praised by Time as "the group's most ambitious and accomplished work yet", Mellon Collie debuted at number one on the Billboard charts in October 1995. Even more successful than Siamese Dream, it was certified nine times platinum in the United States and became the best-selling double album of the decade to date. It also garnered seven 1997 Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year. The band won only the Best Hard Rock Performance award, for the album's lead single "Bullet with Butterfly Wings". The album spawned five singles—"Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "1979", "Zero", "Tonight, Tonight", and "Thirty-Three"—of which the first three were certified gold and all but "Zero" entered the Top 40. Many of the remaining songs that did not make it onto Mellon Collie were released as B-sides to the singles, and were eventually compiled in The Aeroplane Flies High box set. As a testament to the band's popularity, Virgin Records originally intended to limit the set to 200,000 copies, but produced more after the original run sold out due to overwhelming demand.

The True Diante: Artist of the Day 1

This it'll learn'em!

Lets give it to N.D. for another fine pic of the day. Way to go!!! This is priceless. I think its darn near t-shirt worthy.
